Brief Description: Worked on the oil access door today.
One more thing to do is the access door for the oil dip stick. I ran a line and marked out before the upper cowling was put into place and then marks were transferred to the cowling. The door will open at a 45 degree away from me and it will be a 6” hole and when done the flange will bring it down to 5” for the hand to go in. I found a Hartwell H 5000-2 latch on eBay for $ USD 35.00 It is a flush mount latch and will do the job to keep it closed.
Back to the hinge: I cut to length and the hinge pin was cut short and the ends center punched to keep from coming out. Both sides were ground and 1/8” holes drill for the T 88 flox mix to squeezes out of. 2 bids were next with peel-ply and plastic with a sand bag on top to hold in place. I will cut the radius and leave the latch area so I can do the flange on the inside for the access door to sit onto.
