At the aft top of the canopy is a latch that rotates to secure the canopy. This latch is mounted at the top of the frame. Because it holds the canopy closed, it must be secure. The latch has handles on both the inside and the outside of the canopy. These handles are connected by a rod that must be allowed to spin.
To accomplish this, the rod is inserted through a hole that is drilled in a teflon block which is very smooth and slick. The block is floxed into the canopy frame.
