While I was wiring, Dave took the lead fabricating the audio rack. The Garmin GPS and Audio Panel both come with racks. These racks are joined together and secured to the back of the panel and to the bulkhead behind the panel with angle aluminum.
Turns out that the back of the GPS is too long to allow the VP-X to be mounted vertically. So, we removed the VP-X and will mount it below the GPS on straps that hang from the audio rack support rails. Once again, the bench panel is proving that it is well worth the effort to make.
To get to this point we: 1) Cut the L brackets from angle aluminum 2) Cut mock shelves from scrap plywood 3) Drilled mounting holes in brackets for c/s screws and attached with nylock nuts
