Brief Description:  A Turn of Events

It had been my dream to build a Challenger XL-65 with my dad, a WWII flight instructor, but he was too advanced in age to help, so I stopped the process. When he passed at the age of 101, I had a stroke and now, two years later, I find I can't afford the tests that are required to prove to the FAA that I have recovered. So today, I have placed a deposit for a single seat Challenger Part 103 Ultralight "vehicle." It will make weight by being powered by a Hirth F-33, a 28 HP, 2-cycle, single cylinder engine. It will be many weeks before my kit and engine arrive. The good news is that all the equipment, tools and supplies that I assembled to build the Challenger XL-65, will be used in the construction of the 103.
