Brief Description:  Preparing for Landing Lights

Having drill the Platenut holes for the #10 screws I needed to enlarge the hole to 1/4" so as the Plexiglass and the Aluminum shrink and expand differently in response to temperature the screw has room to move. The platenuts I've bought are floating nuplates so they will allow some movement. The question was, how do I drill a clean oversize hole concentric with the orginal hole? I decided to make a tool that I could cleco into the platenut rivet holes. Image 1 shows the piece of 1/4" Aluminum strip that I cut and trimmed one corner off of glued to a piece of wood using my hot glue gun. The wood is then clamped to the drill press. I used the drill press to drill the original size screw hole (Image 1) then used my Right Angle Drill and a Platenut Drill Jig to drill the Platenut rivet holes (Image 2) and then used the drill press to drill the final 1/4" diameter hole where the #10 hole had been.
