Brief Description:  Preparing for Landing Lights

Next on the agenda was to drill the Plexiglass Landing Light Lens. I bought special Plexiglass drill bits from Aircraft Spruce again, the cheapest price the week I went looking for them. All of my reading on-line suggested that it was important that the Plexiglass be warm while I was drilling to prevent cracking so I brought out my trusty halogen work light and pointed both lights down at the Plexiglass with both on the high setting. I know it was toasty working so close to the work lights and it seemed like the Plexiglass was warm (although not hot) to the touch so I felt pretty good about drilling the plexiglass. I used some blue painters tape to mark where I wanted each hole and then turned the drill bit manually about 10 turns before I carefully pulled the trigger on the air drill. Didn't have any problem drilling the Plexiglass.
