Brief Description:  Preparing for Landing Lights

Today was Labor Day so not a lot of tiime was available to work on the airplane what with beach volleyball and bar-b-ques. But, the 3/32" plywood skin was dry so I decided to glue it to the forms. I applied a thin coat of Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Glue to the bottom of the center form and then the mating surfaces of al three forms with the plywood skin and fastened the entire assembly with band clamps. As can be seen in Image 1 this time I used 5 band clamps in all tightened in the following order: Middle clamp first, then the two band clamps on either side were tightened not quite as tight as the middle clamp. The idea was to ensure that the areas between the 2x8 forms would not bow out. Then the outermost clamps were pulled as tight as the middle two clamps (band clamps 2 and 4 if you follow the picture and number from left to right). Clamp 3 was pulled as tight as could be made followed by clamps 1 and 5 and finally 2 and 4.
