Another thought on how to improve my leading edge forming tool was to include the third 2x8 form in the center so I could put a third band clamp on the assembly and minimize skin twist that may or may not have occured on the first attempt. But, recognizing that 2 points define a line and 3 points define a curve I decided that I would allow the middle 2x8 form some float capability. So I glued a set of 1x1 aaluminum angles to both sides to keep the form from falling over to one side and glued down two short leftover pieces of 3/32" plywood on either side of where the middle set of aluminum angles were. This would allow the 2x8 form to slide a little fore, aft, or to eiter side as necessary. Image 1 shows the middle form in place and ready for the 3/32" plywood skin. Image 2 shows the plywood skin band clamped into place. Image 3 is a side view of the clamped assembly. This time I heated the water to 175 degrees and left the plywood in there soaking for 1 1/2 hours before trying to form it. The retainer feature worked like a charm.
