Saturdays are beach volleyball days here in Southern California and yesterday was a perfect beach day so there wasn't much time to get anything done by the time I got home. Image 1 shows the competed leading edge skeleton. It's 12 inches wide and about 7 inches tall and measures just over 15 inches as you go around the leading edge. Image 2 shows the piece of 3/32" plywood I cut from the 2 ft x 4 ft piece I bought from Aircraft Spruce in Corona CA. The instructions I found on-line for creating the landing light lens that I am generally following specified 1/32" thick plywood but that just seemed too flimsy so I decided to go with 3/32" thick. Not something to build furniture out of either but my investigating suggests that 3/32" can be formed around a 1 inch radius after being soaked in hot water for 20 minutes so I'm going with the heavier stuff. When I went to order the plywood from Aircraft Spruce they asked if I wanted 90 degree or 45 degree plywood. I had to think about that for a little bit but decided that the 45 degree would be better for bending. Hope I'm right. I used the old furniture makers trick and wrapped masking tape around the plywood where I wanted to cut it so I'd get a smooth cut and it still works.
