Brief Description:  Building the Wing Leading Edges

Spent a couple of days making a jig to hold the leading edge while working on it. Bought some 3/4" MDF and I cut 5 pieces of MDF to equal size and then traced the outline of a Leading Edge Rib on one of the 5 pieces. This became my master and I made sure to line up the same two edges of each piece before tracing the leading edge shape to ensure that the ribs would line up both vertically and horizontally. Because I couldn't find a really straight 2 x 4 I made one from leftover MDF. Again I lined up the same edges to define where the "fabricated 2 x 4" go so that all of the leading edge cutouts would line up. I squared up all of the sections on my workbench and clamped them in place before gluing the fabricated 2 x 4 in place. The last thing I did was glue narrow sections of indoor/outdoor carpet to the cutouts to protect the leading edge skins.
