Brief Description: Wet sanding the overhead console
Still waiting for may interior paint so today I made a doubler to back up the alternate air door in the airbox. After reading about the rework needed after only 150 or so flying hours, I decided to fix it before it fails. The recommended fix is either change the whole mechanism (the two suppliers who produced doors are no longer in business) or just add a doubler to the inside if the air box. That is the route I will take. I also will change the blind rivets to AN426-4 and can do so because of the metal doubler. I will also pro-seal the inside back of the rivets so if they ever do work loose...they will not be digested in the engine. The majority of my day was spent also wet sanding my overhead console with 800 and then 1000 paper getting it ready to clear coat. After the clear is shot and sets I will prime and paint the interior.
