Brief Description: Shape longerons and roll mid section lower skin
This morning I shaped, drilled, twisted and debured the mid fuselage longerons. Vans supplies a template that it has to match... Not easy...but accurate. I marked the longeron in inch segments and placed it in a vice. A small preload is placed on the side and the the side is smacked gently with a mallet to set the load. This procedure was done every inch along the length checking with the template as I went. Once formed I set them in place to get them out of the way. Next I had to shape the aft section of the mid fuselage right side skin. The aft section curves inward at about a 60° bend. I constructed a 36" vice and fastened it to the aft skin edge. I then rolled the skin using vice grips until I achieved the 60° target. The skin is .032 thick so it did not want to roll easily. I finished the day by making sure it fit the curve of the aft section lower bulkhead. Fit great. Monday, I will tackle the left side.
