Brief Description:  Weighing the plane

Rich dropped off the scales this morning and Marty helped me weigh the plane. All the carpet, leather and other normal items were installed prior to weighing. Because there are only 10 quarts of oil in the sump, I sat two quarts on the cowling to reflect a total of 12 quarts, which is sump capacity. The scales were calibrated, zeroed out and tested with a known weight. We built short ramps to move the plane onto the scales, recorded the numbers, backed the plane off the scales and rechecked calibration. The rear scales were raised about 1 1/2" to bring the plane level. The total weight was 1730. Left rear main was 680, right rear main was 677 and the nose wheel was 373 pounds. After returning the scales, I updated my POH to reflect the final numbers.
