I removed the oil cooler return line and put 23 fl oz of straight Aeroshell straight 100 oil into it. I next put the other 9 fl oz in the sump (via oil service tube) and added an additional 9 quarts. While the sump holds 12 qt. builders who have installed 12 say they loose a lot on the belly of the airplane. Lycoming says 3.5 qt. is minimum sump so that would put me about 5 to 5 1/2 qt minimum, so 10 will be fine because I plan to check it every hour flight. I will note where the oil is on the dip stick after the oil has a chance to settle in which will be an our or so after the first engine start. I installed the front cowling, getting it ready move to the airport.
