Brief Description:  Flap position sensor install

The black box is actually just a sliding resistor.... 10-5000 ohms. On my glass panel, I had to figure out how to tell my glass panel the flap position so it will indicate it on a bar graph. In the photo, the flaps are all the way up and the resistance reads about 4800 ohms. When the flaps reach 40° the output is about 49 ohms. The hinge is actually kinda cool cause it lets the sensor "float" while the cushion clamp adjusts the sliding bar. (Kudos to whomever originally came up with this). All I have to do now is tell my panel that when the ohms = 4800... Indicate flaps at 40° etc. I still have to coordinate it with my flap controller...by recording the ohms where it stops. The controller I am using was designed specially for the RV10... And it is preset for 10°, 25° and 40°. The hinge pin has a grove in it so I can safety it when I am done.
