Brief Description:  Mag Pinned, Alt 2 Installed

The high heat rated RTV cured overnight so I finished insulating the interior side of the firewall. After addressing a couple housekeeping issues, I started to install the B&C backup alternator. To get access to the four mounting bolts, i had to remove the oil filter and the flange cover plate. I found I also had to remove the right magneto to get to the lower inside fastener. I removed the lower spark plugs and turned the engine over until #1 cylinder was on its compression stroke. I then removed the right magneto wire cap to access the timing pin hole. Carefully turning the engine until the timing hole at the 2 o'clock position lined up with the ring gear 25°BTDC mark. The pin dropped right in the "L" (left hand rotate) hole. I marked the housing with tape and a mark to better align when I reinstall it and removed the mag. I added aviation form-a-gasket to both sides of the gasket and installed the alternator with 4 new lock-washers. Then the oil filter was reinstalled and checked for final clearance. I then reinstalled the mag placing it in time and removed the timing pin. The distributor cover was then reinstalled. The SCAT tube and lower spark plugs were reinstalled and the oil filter wired with safety wire. .
