I made some adjustments to the air box and reinstalled. After checking the mixing arm for clearance, I temporally added some nylon washers under the top plate to set the depth of the air cleaner base. I then drilled and clecoed the perimeter of the box. When the washers are removed, the air cleaner is 1/16" higher then the plate. When the plate is installed, the air cleaner is pressed in place. After installing it, I stuffed a foam block in the cowling air inlet and hot glued it in place. After reinstalling the cowling, I used a hacksaw blade to carefully remove the foal block leaving a tunnel straight into the air box. The cowling will be removed and this block will support the BID fiberglass I will add.
