As I get ready to start the cowling work, I had to temporally hang the prop today. Sure is a shame I could not just add the alternator belt and leave the prop installed, but it will come off a couple times before I am done. To line it up correctly, I had to hang it at a 45° angle because in order to turn the engine over I would have to remove the preservative oil and pull all the lower spark plugs...not something I wanted to do because I am at least a year away from cranking up the engine. So I managed to hang it at a 45° angle. Not too difficult with the cherry picker. After that, I started the cowling work by joining the two halves. I guess some builders have no problem with this section, but I found it to be confusing at best... I did end the day by getting the two halves to fit together at the forward section. More work on that tomorrow.
