Brief Description:  Overhead console wiring and venting

I installed two red LED map lights and three LED white lights and their switches in the overhead console today...and then wired them all together. I also installed four air valves which will supply air (overhead) when the plane is in flight. The main overhead lights will be controlled by a dimmer on the front panel and the cargo bay will have a separate SPST switch just inside the cargo bay door. All the switches are positioned so that the are closed (on) when they are toggled in the forward position. Personally, I prefer string ties over tye-wraps for a finished product. Tye-wraps leave a bulky, un-yielding lump on the side of a wire bundle. I did use a few tyes where I installed Thomas and Betts tye supports.
After everything was wired, I used aircraft sting ties to bundle them into a harness. I used a DMC crimp tool with positioner and standard density pins and sockets to link them together. Each connection was shrink-wrapped and labeled which will make service easy should they require it in the future. The main B+ That supplies power from the dimmer switch on the panel to all the light switches was soldered and covered with shrink wrap. All wires were left plenty long future serviceability. Tomorrow I plan to cover the console and prepare to prime the rest of the cabin.
