Today I cut the slots in both cabin doors to install the center door latch from Plane Around. After cutting the bottom open, I drilled a 1/2 inch hole and the ran the vertical sides down to the bottom creating a channel. After some hand filing the openings, I slid the mechanism in place to make sure it fit well. I then separated the latching unit and used it to match drill the securing screw holes. When all the manufacturing work was complete, I wet each side of the opening with epoxy. I also wet two reinforcing blocks (one for each side). While they were sitting, I added cabosil to the remainder of the epoxy and retraced the areas the I wet with just epoxy earlier. I then installed a block on each side of the opening and added a radius of cabosil around the top and bottom of the reinforcing block. It will cure overnight.
