Brief Description: Dimpled, alumipreped and alodined the left tank
Long day today. Lots of sanding, scotchbrite and final deburing. Sanded the internal mating surfaces with 220 paper and scotchbrite all the other parts. Once the surface was scuffed, I dimpled the skin, ribs and J channel. All interior parts were alumipreped and alodined. Normal process on the skin is to wipe with MEK and then prime. Because I can't paint the interior of the tank, I alumipreped and alodined. Best way I found was to use a sponge brush. After it was rinsed and dried, it looks like pretty good coverage. Some of the alodine came out the top side through the rivet holes. Looks like rust stains. I did rinse both side. I think on the right tank, I will try to spray the alodine to see if I can control it better. The outside of the tank will paint just fine.
