We determined that the LED lights we had for our position lights were not bright enough. So, we determined we needed quadruple the output of the 5 watt led we had planned to use. According to the FAR's that would not meet the minimum required output. We determined that the minimum would have to be 20 watts to get us above the 400 candela minimum required. The setup up we will use will give us 671 candela at the 115 degree viewing range per the FARs.
So, I have to make modifications to the bases, we had printed up for us, to accommodate the heat sinks required. This is going to take a few tries to get right and them take the prototype apart and make it permanent.
