Brief Description:  Stripping powder coating

After getting the fuselage from the hanger we discovered that the powder coating was full of pin holes. The fuselage is covered / spotted with rust. The only solution is to remove the powder coating, rust and treat the fuselage. Not something you want to discover at this stage.

With the fuselage in Carroll's garage, I am starting on the horizontal stabilizer here in mine. (actually my driveway). Anyway, it is some tough stuff to remove. the temps here are pretty high for winter. being covered in long pants, apron, gloves and safety glasses is not very comfortable. Unfortunately for me all necessary with the stripper I am using. it's loaded with MEK.

most of the powder coating is off but still have some stubborn areas to contend with before I sand out the rusty areas and treat it, wash it and prime it.
