Brief Description:  Nose gear

While I was on vacation, Carroll picked up the items we were having powder coated. So, we spent the morning reaming all the nose gear races, cleaned, blued all exposed bare metal, greased everything up and assembled the nose gear. Looks nice! I am a little concerned about the lack of shock absorption in the nose gear but, most of out T/L will be on hard surface runways so only time will tell. We may have to rework it at some point to give us better soft field capability if needed.

Anyway, we still have to hang the engine mount and engine before we can complete the nose gear. Not only do we need to clean the races in the strut receptacle on the engine mount and the strut itself, we also have to calculate the strut length under a physical weight load to assure the proper normal angle of attack and prop clearance. That will be in a few weeks I assume. So for now, its back to the wings. We are still having problems with vendors and getting the “complete” items not just half the parts! (US manufacturing sucks today. Send your work off shore and make more irregardless of the quality issue. Corporate America sucks!)
