Brief Description: Fiberglassing the aileron leading edge
Well, today both time and temp coincided and the aileron now has its leading edge fiberglassed! It's been a difficult month trying to get both the temperature warm enough to fiberglass and the actual time to do it to meet on the same day. So, while Carroll is working on finding a powder coating company with a large enough oven to re powder coat the fuselage, I was able to get the aileron fiberglassed.
It seems that our fuselage is showing severe signs of rusting under the existing factory powder coating. Not a good sign at all. So, we will need to have the fuselage blasted and re-powder coated. Another quality issue with Rocky Mountain Wings (or at least their powder coating vendor). We really like the design of this aircraft, just not the kit itself. There are way too many discrepancies and quality issues with it. Add that to the non existent factory assistance and it tends to do more than tick you off.
Anyway, the weather looks to be on our side from here on out so, we might just be able to get the wings completed in the next couple of weeks and get back on track with the rest of the project. Now that the weather is getting back to normal, things are looking up. This has been way too long of a down time.
