Brief Description:  Control surface leading esge shaping

It has been a while since we have updated our log. We have not done much. Carroll has been working on getting his shop work table finished to complete his BK Flyer and I have been nervous about shaping the foam leading edges on the flap and aileron for the right wing of the Ridge Runner. I have been concerned that I would make the same mistakes I made on the left control surfaces. Those mistakes cost us well over a month of rework. So, I took my time with shaping the foam. We did not have enough remaining foam to make any repairs. And not wanting to purchase a whole sheet in case I made any serious mistakes, I worked a little here and a little there until today when I finished shaping the leading edges.

We have to set the hinges on the aileron, get them aligned, epoxied and riveted in place. Once that is done I can replace the foam I had to remove for riveting and smooth it our before we can slurry the foam and apply our fiberglass layers. That is the tough part. The slurry has to flash before we can apply the layers and we need to ensure we get the proper mix of resin and micro balloons. Anyway, It looks like we are back on track to getting the right wing finished. I have a lot of prep work to complete before we start. Since Carroll is out of town right now, this is the perfect time to get everything ready to go once he gets back. Since I have only worked sporadically I am only estimating the total time on the work for this entry.
