Brief Description:  Flap

Today the weather is awesome! Its in the low 80's and the humidity is 65%. I was able to tack the flap ribs in place, prep the aileron ribs and re-attach the false rib I pulled off not long ago. I did however, notice “another” reason to call into question Rocky Mountain Wings quality control. Not only is the epoxy job they did on all the ribs (both wing and control surfaces) messy and sloppy, they are not square. The control surface ribs are off not only on the tops and bottom but, they are also off on the alignment. I found one rib (after the Hysol started to cure) to be off by 1/8” from the center of the cap strip. Just my luck, it was on a hinge point. It is off just enough to clear the hinge but quite noticeable. The rib is square with the spar but, boy does it stand out as you can see in the photo below. It will not cause any problem with function, it just ticks me off that it was sent with the kit. I did not notice until almost too late to correct. I still have to install the foam and fiberglass leading edge which will hide this, but why ship this out this way? Who inspects this stuff at the factory? Anyway, I have to wait for the Hysol to cure before we can get back to it so, tomorrow will be another day.
