So this morning, in between my long honey do list, I flipped the right wing over and cleaned up the trailing edge. Did some edge sanding and planing of the edges. After getting everything as smooth and flat as I could, I set out to inspect how true the surface was both top and back.
I found the top is indeed wavey as I knew it would be due to humidity in our area. It would have been a miracle if the 1/8 cap strip had not warped at all. No biggie though. It is not that much off. I will set up the AC in the garage and let it run all day to pull out as much moisture from the air and cap strip as I can. I will varnish it tonight and check again in the am.
The back turned out great with one exception. I had a wedge come loose and the resulting gap allowed the edge to pull away. And of course, the epoxy filled the gap. Its not off by much ( only 4-5 /1000 of an inch. I will grind tout the epoxy and clamp it in place and re-epoxy that area. Sanding is out of the question.
Average width of top cap strip is 79 - 80
width at the splice is 83. time to correct
