Brief Description:  Control Surface Leading Edges (Left Wing)

Spent the last few days cutting the blanks for the leading edges, fitting and prepping for hot wiring. Made some small errors in the hot wire process, but nothing that can not be repaired with some light weight filler and elbow grease. It was very difficult to cut around the hinges. If I had known (actually thought about the process first), I would not have followed the manual steps verbatim. I would have cut and shaped the foam first “before” I installed the hinges to the spar. It would have saved a few hours of work and made the job easier.

Next step is to fill all the voids and build up a small area of the aileron where the hot wire became slack and cut below the ribs. From the measurements, it is an 1/8” lower in a 3 inch wide area. Too late to replace now that it is epoxied in place. Thankfully, I have plenty of micro balloons. So, some filling and sanding and we will be ready for the carbon fiber.
