Started to drtll and Cleco the hinges to the spar this morning. The control horn was easy enough but, then I proceeded to drill the inner hinge mounting holes and the bit slipped off the hinge and directly into my left index finger tip. It went completely through my finger. I felt it hit the bone and boy didit hurt! Ouch!
Carelessness. Plain and simple. Got into a hurry and paid the price. I should have removed the hinge from the wing. Instead, I tried drilling at too sharp an angle upwards from below. Dummy! Take heed, DON"T GET HURRYUPITIS! Now I am not sure how long it will be before I can get the aileron hinges drilled, epoxied and the pulleys installed! Don't make the same mistake. Slow down!!!
Left Aileron Control Horn - drilled and clecoed in place.
Pesky right hinge that ended up directing the drill bit into my finger.
