Brief Description:  Trailing Edge Reinforcements

Completed installing Trailing Edge reinforcements. Laborious process! We had to use 1/2" square steel tubing on the top, bottom and back edge to keep the trailing edge flat and square while the epoxy cured. The tubing we used was only 36" long so we could only complete two sections at a time. Now the left wing is ready for us to build the Alerons and Flaps and install all the hinges, control pulleys, cables and finish all the surfaces for covering. Right wing completeion after the left is ready to cover.

I have to say that the trailing edge is much stronger at a very minimal weigth penalty. my estimate from the epoxy weight and finished blanks is less than 11 oz. doing this eliminates the sags in the trailing edge material and reduces the filling weight from the light weight bondo the Mfr reccomends to level out the surfaces.prior to covering. We plan to use Micro Baloons when we mix our bondo for filling to reduce weight even more. I believe it will come out just about even weight wise and be stronger.
