Brief Description:  Rib Removal

It took two hours to remove the Hysol from the incorrectly set rib on the left wing. Used the heat gun hoping it would be quicker. Well, not sure how much quicker it was but,I am sure it was a darned sight cleaner than grinding it out. The dust would have been ankle deep. I have the rib off and need to clean up the remaining Hysol from the rib and spar surface before I can inspect the rib for any minor repairs needed. That will have to wait for now since it is too hot in the garage right now. I have to clean the portable AC unit before I can be used.

As I said in my previous entry, Carroll and I discovered the rib was 1/4 inch off when it was set. After checking, rechecking and checking again and again, it was off. So, now we can get everything ready for next weekend when we will reset it in its correct position. We want to get the fuel tanks, the last rib and the butt ribs set so we can get to work on the ailerons and flaps. Check your measurements over and over and over before you commit yourself to a glue, drilling or rivet task.
