Brief Description:  Re-installation of the Left Strut Attach Fitting

Re-installed the Left Strut Attach Bracket.

Drilled out all remaining rivet holes, deburred, and clecoed in place. I then marked a half inch line around the fitting onto the Spar then removed the fitting. I had several places I had to remove Hysol around the bottom area of the false ribs to ensure the fitting was flush with the spar. I then prepped the spar surface and the underside of the fitting with 360 grit emory cloth.

As a testament to the durability of powder coating, It sure was a pain in the rear getting the glaze cut down on the bracket so the Hysol would bond properly. That stuff is tough. It took 45 minutes to get it done. But, once that was done and all surfaces were washed with acetone, I mixed and applied the Hysol to both the spar area and the underside of the fitting. What a mess. I am sure I used more than necessary.

Once the bracket was back on the spar and clecoed in place I installed the first rivets. I have to say that Hysol is tough but, it is a messy thing to work with. I used over 10 rags to try and keep things clean. It sure is good that it takes time to cure. I had to stop half way to dissassemble the rivet gun and clean it. So, I broke out the manual back up to help finish. More than several stems got stuck in the air riveter. Being alone today in this step since Carroll is sick, I could not stop and take photos along the way. I use a company phone. Getting Hysol on it would not be a good thing. Anyway, this task is complete and the cleanup was tedious but now its on to drilling out the new wing attach fittings and installing them.
