Brief Description:  Inspection Update

Gerald Krall came by to inspect the kit and the Left Spar. Just as I suspected, it will have to be replaced. Total rework of the left wing. Oh well. I Feel better about it. The wall thickness of the spar is .065 and the ding is .032 deep. It was buffed out and almost invisible whe we got the kit, But in the right light it looks horrible.

We also talked about the rib reinforcement and he agreed that the larger bonding area would make the rib attachment stronger. He also agreed that the origonal builder did not bond the ribs very well at all. Gerald had a Kitfox and explained that the epoxy fillet should be large and even. DUH. Unfortunately the origonal owner could not read. So, The next several months will be filled with careful rework and redo of the entire wing. We can't proceed without a plan so, I will think about it before we begin. Carroll will not be pleased to hear about the spar replacement.

Blue tape in photo's indicates loose ribs. Amazingly, the rear epoxy jobs are pretty darned good. Why the front was not done as well is strange.
