Brief Description:  MIsc items

May was not a great month for us. We lost our 3 month old Grandson to a drunk driver and his selfishness. Having to travel back to Maryland due to this family emergency, the project got put on hold until today. Still not truly into working on it, but we have been discussing our next steps. We have ordered the required items and received some of them only to find them to be incomplete or incorrect on the vendors parts. So, while we wait on the corrections to be made, I have been tinkering around today prepping several items for completion.

For the nose gear, we are waiting on the stainless axle shaft collars. The fuel tank is awaiting the adapter fitting for the tank sump drain and the wing tip is waiting for me to get off my butt and hit the lumber store for the Spruce material needed for the wing attachment framework.

I have been working on getting the nose gear hardware and parts ready for preliminary install and fit. Done!

I have cut the Nylon shim material for the Flap return spring area and it is ready to install once the Flap is covered. The return spring actually pulls the flap against the wing itself. So, a 1/8" bearing surface was required. Several builders have had this problem. So, better to build the solution into the project now instead of after the fact.

The fuel tank sump (we live in Florida) is a must with the humidity in our area. With the molded sump in the supplied tanks being to small for the sump drain, we have to install an adapter and relocate the drain. Waiting on the adapter now. Also the tank strap attach fitting is laid out on the stock aluminum bar and ready to drill, tap, cut and shape. Hopefully all before we leave by the end of this week for a return trip to Maryland. Another two weeks lost.

There is quite a lot to do to finish the left wing and have it ready to cover. It is a good thing that this is a learning curve. We still have to complete the Right wing! Lots of tedious steps to complete. But, we will hang in there and get them done. It is way to hot and humid to
