Brief Description:  Alignment Jigs

Fabricated alignment blocks for the Ailerons and Flaps. The manual states that the end of the ailerons and flaps must be 8 inches from the rear spar. So, after trimming the ribs to accommodate the trailing edge, I wanted to ensure they stay in the correct position when we epoxy them in place. Easy enough now. It took an hour and a half to fabricate the jig blocks. Now we are ready to abrade the inside of the trailing edges and epoxy them in place.

Once the trailing edge is complete on this aileron, we can begin to set the hinges in place and determine the hinge points and drill the hinge brackets. After setting the hinge points, we can align everything in place, set the brackets, clamp everything in place then drill and rivet the brackets to ensure the proper gap and up and down travel. 20 Degrees up 30 degrees down. We look forward to finishing the Flap on this wing and rigging.

Even there is much more to do on this wing, IE … rigging, completion of the fuel tank install, wing tip and lighting cable runs, we can see light at the end of the tunnel. We are shooting for August 2018 for completion and first test flight. We shall see.
