Moved the left wing outside today to take advantage of the full sun. Some last minute sanding and dust removable then began applying the first coat of varnish. What a messy job it turned out to be. No matter how careful you try to be there are always drips and runs. Easy enough to correct, but time consuming.
Anyway, the first coat is on. I will let this wing sit for the next 2 weeks while I am on vacation. Once I get back, I will sand with 400 grit and reapply the second coat. We will begin building the aileron and flap after that is done.
Since the manual is not that great, we will have to be extra careful with the hinge moments and pulley assembly. I am hoping some of the guys in the builders group can give us some insight on assembly where the manual is lacking. Time to take another needed break from the build.
Last touch up on blending the ribs to the spar.
Half way done varnishing
Finally done. Now to dry then move back into the garage and onto the table.
