Brief Description: Shaping first area of the trailing edge.
After the first application of filler, we had several areas that were sanded just a tad over. So, I used Spotting Compound to bring the level up to correct height. It wasn't much but I could see light under the straight edge.
I made a large sanding block out of a nice piece wood salvaged from a dresser that was broken up to dispose of. It was straight flat and an excellent choice for the job. It was cut to length the edges sanded, spray adhesive applied and pre-cut pieces of 80 grit sand paper applied. (finish work will be done with another application of spotting compound followed then with 220 and 360 grit.)
Anyway, the spotting putty has to cure for at least 30 minutes, but I will let it go for another hour or two (that's from experience not the Manufacturer's directions). The longer the better on sand out. So, maybe tomorrow I will find out how it looks with some cloth (actually, cut nylons. They give a great show and tell of how the covered appearance will be after you cover the aircraft).
