Brief Description:  Completion of epoxy deglazing & removal

Got back to work on deglazing and removing the bad epoxy job on rib #1 today after a week from hell. Now we know how long each rib should take to rework. It works out to about 2 hrs and 30 mins each, just to prep. We also estimate the re-epoxy and installation of the reinforcements to take about an hour.

With this time frame (3 1/2 hrs per rib, x 9 ribs per wing) it looks like the total rework for the right wing will be 31.5 hrs. The left wing will be at least another 10 hrs longer, since we have to replace the front spar.

Not sure what the time frame would be with constructing the wings from scratch if the kit had been purchased. Most likely 15 to 20 % less I am sure. All the more reason to BUILD IT RIGHT from the beginning. This is a classic example of someone assuming they know what they are doing but didn't. I am glad the person who started this project never finished. It would have ended as a bad headline. The pictures of the epoxy job speak for themselves.

Anyway, now to re-epoxy and install the rib reinforcemnt for rib #1. With my wife's second surgery coming up it will have to wait for a few weeks. Once life gets back to some state of normality, progress should become much easier for us. New spar has been ordered along with a new tail wheel assembly. A.S., I love you!
