Brief Description:  Page 6-1 Paragraph 7 - 9 Prepare HS-904 and HS 905

Paragrah 7 - 9

Prepare the HS-904 Main Ribs and HS-905 Nose Ribs by filing away any burrs around the lightening holes and notches in the rib flanges. Smoothe edges on a Scotchbrite wheel (Sec. 5B)

At this point I don't have a drill for the Scotcchbrite wheel so I used a deburing tool which worked ok for the lightening holes and most of the rest of the rib flanges but not so well for the notches. However, I don't see how a Scotchbrite wheel can do any better than the deburing tool in the notches.

I will pick up some sand paper to fit into the notches hopefully that will give better results.

Paragrah 8 (Disclaimer this Paragrah had been finished by the previous builder.)

See Section 5N Fluting, before proceeding.

Check that all HS-904 Main Ribs and HS-905 Nose Ribs webs are straight and that all but two HS-904 and two HS-905 ribs (these ribs will be used at the inboard ends of the stabilizer halves) have all their flanges adjusted to be 90 degrees from the web. A straight edge laid over the pre-punched holes makes a good reference when fluting.

Paragrah 9 (Disclaimer this Paragrah had been finished by the previous builder.)

The aft flanges of the two inboard nose ribs and the two inboard main ribs should be 11 degrees open and the forward flaanges of the two inboard main ribs should be 11 degrees closed. These flanges are easily bent by hand for and exact fit when the stabilizer skeleton is assembled. Flute the ribs between the pre-punched holes and adjust the flanges as required.
