Brief Description: Marking the rib & stringer framework onto the skin
Having completed the riveting of the stringers, and before fitting the leading edge ribs, I positioned the wing vertically on the work table and clamped into position, ensuring that it was square by checking the diagonals, so that I could mark the outlines of the stringers and ribs onto the inside of the skins.
This worked very well on the first wing and I did not miss a stringer or rib with any rivet hole.
Hope I can repeat the process.
By marking around the outline of the ribs & stringers, a centre line can then be drawn for the placing of the pilot holes for the rivets.
I had to brace the back side of the skins to hold it firm against the framework, another pair of hands at this time would have been very handy !
Marking rib & stringer positions onto skins
I used fast drying water based ink pens with a fine tip.
