Brief Description: Flap alignment with the wing.
|
|
Before drilling the 3/32 holes out to 1/8", I positioned the flap onto the wing and clamped at the hinge points. I was already expecting the the flap would need a little twist to match the wing because of the built in washout in the wing, and this proved to be the case, so I noted the amount of twist required, removed the flap back onto the table.
Before drilling the 1/8' holes for the rivets, I packed one corner of the flap to give the amount of twist requied (this was about 1/4" of packing) after removing most of the clekos and clamped the flap down to the table.
I then drilled the 1/8' holes, clekoed and repositioned the flap onto the wing.
Perfect alignment, however I did find that in order to get the hinge bolt holes in the centre of the mounting plates attached to the flap spar, I had to change these plates to being 1.5 " wide, otherwise the hinge bolts would have been too close to the edge of the original supplied plates.
I then dismantled the flap, deburred all holes, primed the inside surfaces of the skins.
