Brief Description:  First Flap Assembly.

Now that the work table is free I was able to get back to the assembly of the first Flap.

Very little in the assembly manual about doing the flaps and ailerons (all 4 are the same, just the operation arm position needs to be matched to the wing), and the proposed man hours are pure fantasy. Why was I not surprised?

I positioned the flap framework onto the trailing edge skin and after ensuring that the ribs were square to the spar, marked the outline of the ribs onto the inside of the skin.

Removed the spar and ribs assembly, marked centre lines on the rib positions inside the skin, marked the rivet locations and drilled from inside using a 3/32 drill. I did not drill along the spar on the trailing edge skin.

I fitted the leading edge skin and clamped the assembly to the table and after marking the ribs, drilled the top (curverd ) side, and spaced the rivet holes along the spar and again drilled using a 3/32.

I then repositioned the trailing edge skin, and using the holes on the leading edge skin along the spar, drilled through these into the trailing edge skin.
