Brief Description:  Lower Cowl supports & Plate

After fitting the upper cowl area support angles, I made a decision about the lower cowl exhaust opening area.

I have never liked the look of the BushCaddy lower cowl extending down below the firewall at the fuselage side, it does nothing to enhance the asthetic appearance of the aircraft.

To overcome this, I made up two triangular gussets tapering from nothing at the fuselage side to 50mm below the fuselage bottom.

Also in an effort to introduce a slight curve in the lower cowl plate, I curved the lower support angles. This also gave a reasonable clearance for the exhaust pipes.

I then cut and clekoed the lower cowl plate into place. I will cut a curved exhaust area outlet in this plate and form a lip before final assembly.

It is my hope that the built in fore & aft curve in the bottom cowl area will sofften the profile of the overall fuselage to some degree.
