Brief Description: Fitting gas struts & window closure latches
Before dismantling all of the door components from both sides of the airframe, I made up the attachment brackets for the gas struts and installed these at both doors.
I have noticed when looking at some of the other builders web sites that some builders have these struts installed upside down. I have been reliably informed that the struts should be installed with the gas chamber to the top so that when closedthe oil seal is located at the lower end of the chamber.
I took a guess at the pressure required when buying the struts (they were originally 7 psi,) and had them pressurised to 12 psi which turned out to be just about perfect for the door & window weight of my assemblies.
I also fitted the window latches I had purchased from Spruce, along with a closure striking plate at the forward lower corner of each opening window.
