Brief Description:  A stich in time saves ............

I had been looking at the method suggested in the drawings for the attachment of the elevator control horn to the elevators using AN3-5 BOLTS & NUTS, but could see that this would be difficult to do in final assembly, so decided to use K1000-3 plate nuts as the bolt anchor points and could see that by installing these now before riveting the skins to the elevator framework, it would be more easily achieved.

So, I set up the horizontal stabs and aligned them with the reinforcing plate (PD-84), bolts in place, so that the correct spacing between the elvators (which I had attached to the horizontal stabilisers)
was made.

I found that the 202mm measurement suggested on the drawings as the gap between the elevator frames did not concurr with the reality of the assembled horizontal stabilisers with the elevator frames in place. It was more like 215mm. Class Inc should check this out!.

I then placed the control horn assembly in place and drilled 3/32 pilot holes through the steel "U" section and into the elevator frames at the reinforcing plate corner locations..

After installing the K1000-3 Plate Nuts, ( all 8 of them), I then proceeded to rivet the skin to the right side elevator framework.
