Brief Description: Cargo bay tie down restraint points.
Having finished the cargo bay floor skins it was now time to fit the CA Baggage tie down points onto the floor and make up the reinforced hard points for these fittings.
I purchased 8 of these fittings from Vans, they are a little expensive at $15.50 each but if they stop the camping gear from ending up down with the elevator when I apply power or on my lap when I apply brakes, who cares.
At the locations of the tie downs, I riveted 3 inch lengths of 1 X 1 X 1/8th inch angle to the aft side of the frames 2 and 3.
These fittings are also placed over the lap joints of the floor panel sections, so that the screws securing the fittings go through 4 layers of sheet and angle as well as into the plate nut. Very Strong!
Plate nuts were riveted to these angles to take the hold down fitting screws.
I intend to place 4 more of these fittings to the corners of the vertical aft face on the rear bulkhead of the cabin area where the aft fuselage section joins the cabin.
