Brief Description:  Transponder & Instrument check & then the flying

Some days you just get lucky, not only did the transponder and pitot system prove to be all OK, but when heading back to base I heard the ATC give details on military low jet traffic in my patch. Yahoo, being in the right place at the right time, how could I resist the urge to climb up into the sun and wait.

4 F18 Hornets were heading in my direction and the RV was ready to engage with gun camera rolling.

As they enjoyed their unsuspecting sight seeing criuse up the coast at 300 feet, I rolled in from 1500 and lined up on three of them with mic button blazing.

They didn't have a chance and must have realised what they were up against as they didn't hang around.
Last I saw of them were afterburners smoking whilst they headed for angels 16 and away from the unfair situation they had found themselves in.

Being in a low fuel state I decided not to press the arttack and called " Break it off Break it off" before a few victory rolls and the mandatory low level flypast on return to Stradbroke Island base.

Does it getting any better than this?
