Due to there being damaged parts in the delivery crate, instead of starting on the Fuselage section as detailed in the construction manual, I decided to undertake the Cabin assembly first.
As it turns out, I believe that this is a far better place to start the construction due to a number of reasons which will be explained as this construction log is developed.
I quickly discoverred that the Construction manual average time for each detailed phase is understated by a hugh margin, and when I queried this with Class Inc, I was advised that the hours shown in the manual were generic and were really reflecting the times for the 2 seat R80 model. Even so, I still think that the times stated are well under the realistic times for a first time builder. I say this with the past experience of having built and flown my own Vans RV4, so I'm not without some building experience.
I also quickly discover that the sales blurb is not entirely accurate, in that the cabin structure had not been fully predrilled and pre assembled at the factory before being dismantled and packed for shipment.
