We have two cooling fans installed on the glare shield that pull air from behind the instrument panel and blows it towards the windshield. This has a two fold purpose, keeps the instruments and avionics cool and will defrost the windshield.The only problem was that the fan grill was silver so that when you look outside through the front windshield you have this reflection of the grill directly in your line of sight. So we removed the grill and spray painted them the same flat black as the glare shield, it makes a big difference. Also today, we removed the altimeter and ELT and dropped them off at Kitchener Aero for certification. Next week we hope to have them do a pitot static check along with the altitude encoder and transponder certification.
